Britney Spears Divorce

On January 3, 2004, Britney Spears exchanged wedding vows with Jason Allen Alexander, her childhood friend, at the Little White Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas. The lifelong bond lasted no longer than 55 hours and ended on 5th January on the premise that Britney was not able to agree to marriage as before tying the knot, the Defendant and Plaintiff didn’t even aware of each other’s likings and disliking, desires to have or not to have a child, and where they will live after marriage.

On 18 September 2004, Ms. Spears married Kevin Federline, her former backup dancer. Her second marriage resulted in two children for the couple, Jayden James Federline and Sean Preston Federline.

Citing differences and Britney’s claims to the world for a makeover of her career and image led to the second divorce saga for the lady. She pressed for both physical and legal custody of the children leaving Federline with visiting rights alone. Laura Wasser was roped in to fight the Britney Spears divorce case. A spokesperson for Federline’s lawyer described the Britney Spears divorce filing as a total surprise for Federline.

Following the end of the marriage, Kevin and Britney have been locked in a fierce custody tussle. Federline’s original request to the court was for refusal to award spousal support for Spears as he wanted it for himself as per the papers filed by him in November. In her court petition, Spears requested that her property, including jewelry and earnings following the date of separation, should be taken as separate from Federline’s.

According to a January agreement in the Britney Spears divorce, the couple had consented to a temporary joint-custody arrangement with tri-weekly visitation rights for Federline, based on documents filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. However, immediately before Spears went into rehab in February, Federline took custody of both children, Sean Preston (then 18-month old) and Jayden James (then 6-month old).

Eventually, on March 29, 2007, almost five months after the Britney Spears divorce was filed against Kevin Federline, a mutual settlement was reached. In a global settlement agreement signed by both parties, all aspects of their marriage and custody of the two children were resolved.
